Dido
03:29
|
|||
there's Dido lain
on the mattress
arms stretched out before her
as she prays
to these cruel Goddesses
that have cursed her
she says
"why have you made
my heart ache so this way"
and they say
oooh
yearning so strong
I forget my own past
make with me now
and promise me this will last
oh, sweet Dido
don't get carried away
envision myself down with Hades
amongst women who with this fire were scathed
burn fire burn
pour water on the pyre
burn fire burn
goodbye, my lover

William's Letter
02:55
|
|||
William wrote to me
last week
things are good
mothers fine
but he can't shake the feeling of the ocean at his feet
though the city is landlocked for miles
he writes of seeing movies in which people really die
and the sea breeze has made his fingers cold
William
come home
your daughter's growing old
and she's here all alone
and although no one can hear me
I still speak to you at night
yet the pen seems too far for me to grasp
there's justice in your anger at the cruelty of the world
but watch as the wind slips through the trees

taste sea salt again
lick it off my skin
I won't be subject
to your lies
not for much longer
darling take my hand and walk with me
Into the sea
wind is a breath on my back feel the waves at my feet
the rock stands so close yet my legs have grown so tired
it will not get any closer now
( wash off the blood and walk with me into the sea
feel the sting on my body and the waves at my feet )
sweet little angels catch my breath
come now and take me to the end

Mother Mary (demo)
02:20
|
|||
split my heart in two
and play with it while I play with you
toss it on the fire
burning bright before my eyes
lift me up
put me down
pin me up
let me wear a crown
crawling on
on my knees
through miles of fire
'til I can get to Mary
my hands are bare
my hands are bare
I separate my skin
and I see you there

Untitled
02:15
|
|||
submitted yourself to darkness
in the midst of it all
there is only the centre
as the women lay under the ground
as will you
feeding a pine
I will lay myself down in the earth beside you
and I will shrink myself down to make space for you
amongst the nothingness
for nobody suffers but you
and to you, I am a version of yourself,
though I cannot lie and say I feel different
(I will lay myself down in the earth beside you
amongst the trees and the birds and the men we hide to)
